It was confirmed that Madhuri “Sharda” Padumdeo, 21, of Lot 8 North Sophia, Bel Air, Georgetown who was allegedly killed by her reputed husband last Friday was indeed strangled to death. This was revealed by local pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh when he performed the autopsy on the remains of the woman on Wednesday morning.
Padumdeo’s reputed husband of more than four years, Michael “Mikey” Persaud, 22, has since been charged with the capital offence of murder. He was remanded to jail until January 16, 2011 when he will appear in Court One for report. His relatives have retained senior counsel Bernard De Santos as his lawyer.
A naked, bloodied Padumdeo was discovered sometime after 08: 00h on the couple’s bed with an unconscious Persaud alongside her. A piece of electrical cord was wrapped around her neck.
It was reported that the couple had an abusive relationship, and Persaud suspected Padumdeo, who worked at a cane juice stall, was unfaithful. Their union produced a two-yearold son who is presently with his maternal grandmother Kuntie Padumdeo.
“It is hard when he cry, but he too young to understand what really happened,” Kuntie noted. She said it is hard to lose her only daughter, but justice will be served.” Padumdeo will be cremated on Friday at the Good Hope Crematorium.
